A business checking account is necessary for all nonprofit organizations. The account helps keep funds belonging to the organization separated from any accounts personally belonging to board members.

Opening a business checking account requires a filed copy of the organization’s Articles of Incorporation and EIN. Some banks may require additional documentation, so it’s always important to talk with your bank of choice before going into an office to open an account.
